Takedown’s redesign that boosted conversion rate by 50%

Takedown Sportswear started as a wrestling academy in 2006 and has since evolved into a full-scale manufacturer specializing in custom apparel for various sports. After outgrowing their old website, the Takedown team engaged Fuel Made for a full redesign with improved UX and a higher conversion rate.
The challenge
Prior to our collaboration with Takedown, the brand had several positives working in its favor. Takedown had seen tremendous growth through the years and established partnerships with big names in their industry. The website was getting plenty of traffic from various channels. However, this traffic was not completing the journey through the conversion funnel like it should have. The navigation was clunky, and revenue was being left on the table. The site needed to be optimized to ensure customers smoothly reached the checkout.
Our approach
Conversion optimization: Following a careful analysis of user data and activity on the site, we implemented strategies to better engage visitors and bring them across the finish line. When it was all said and done, the site not only looked better aesthetically, but was optimized for conversions. Our strategies were validated when conversion rate rose by 50% just six months after launching the redesigned site.
Cross-selling: We incorporated related product options throughout the buyer’s journey to lift AOV. We also made it easy for users to “complete their kit” by adding additional items to the cart without navigating to a new page. These improved cross-selling strategies helped increase the store’s total sales by 82%.
Product education: Effective product education helps users understand which options are best for them. This reduces confusion and expedites the shopping process.
Improved navigation: A key element in reaching success with this project was making Takedown’s SKU count of over 2,000 products easy to discover for visitors. One effort toward this goal that really paid off was dialing in their mega menu to make it as intuitive as possible.

With the redesigned Takedown shop, users can now find products and make purchases more easily. The site is now also better equipped to entice cross-sell opportunities, a significant sales driver. This rebuild has given Takedown what they need for continued success.
